I'm loving life

Jodi from Fun in First is hosting an April Linky Party.

1. I only have 22 more days of school! I'm both excited and sad about this. I have learned so much this year.  My school is unique in the fact that it specializes in helping children with learning disabilities. This includes everything from autism to communication disorders. It is an amazing school and I have seen a lot of progress in the children this year.
This month we have been working very hard to fundraise for a new building. We have a donor matching donations until the end of this month. In an effort to raise more funds I am throwing a sale in both of my stores. (Teachers Pay Teachers & Teachers Notebook) All I ask is that if you look into the school and donate what you can

2. I started the Teaching Blog Traffic School over spring break. While I feel like I have been making a lot of progress, I still have a lot to learn.

3. It is perfect frisbee weather!

4. The tulips are amazing. I love Spring!

5. I've been exploring new restaurants around town. I found the best waffle place ever.

Earth Day 2012

I love spending time in nature. Growing up my family would frequently visit the beach, go camping, and visit national parks. We were raised to recycle, clean up after ourselves, and respect the Earth. Last week my husband and I went to a movie and we saw the preview for the new Disney Chimpanzee movie. A loud group of teenage girls behind us giggled and awed through the whole preview. Imagine my surprise when the trailer said in theaters Earth Day and not one of them knew when it was. Shocked face.

I love that as a teacher I get to share knowledge with children. I get to help them see the beauty in the world around them and the effect that they have. While this post is a little late for this year, I wanted to share some resources for Earth Day. You can always save it to your computer and use it next year.  Enjoy!

Here is a simple writing prompt for your students to use. You can get a copy by clicking on the link here or any of the pictures below. This prompt can be used to create a class book, an individual book, or a bulletin board. I kept it basic to have more emphasis on the writing and to save on ink. (I don't know about you but my printer ink always seems to be low this time of year.) The clipart featured is by Nikki of Melonheadz Illustrating. Stop by her blog here.

A teacher at my school made the cutest bulletin board with her class. I'm sorry I missed taking a picture of it. It was simple and done in a short amount of time.  Click here or on the picture for detailed directions on how to create your own Earth Bulletin Board.

I love to share books all month long. Some of my favorites are listed below:
Arthur Turns Green
Just a Dream
Human Footprint: Everything You Will Eat, Use, Wear, Buy, and Throw Out in Your Lifetime (National Geographic Kids)
The Great Kapok Tree: A Tale of the Amazon Rain Forest
The Lorax

What are some of your favorite books to read around Earth Day? Leave me a comment and I will be sure to add them to my list.

April? Really?

I can't believe that it is April. Can you? This year is flying!
I love Farley and her Currently Parties. If you have not seen them before you are in for a treat.

Right now I am on Spring Break. Which is great! My mom kidnapped me and dragged me, kicking and screaming all the way to beautiful California. Did I mention it snowed the day we left? Yeah. Very little little kicking and screaming on my part. Unless you count the screams of excitement. We have been eating out, watching lots of HGTV, and enjoying our time together. I've seen a movie with my family, caught up on some Tivo, and eaten some amazing home cooked meals.

Unfortunately my husband was in his last week of this semester, which means he had to stay in snowy cold Utah. But I get to see his handsome smiling face today! I am SO excited. I think this has been the longest time we have been apart since we have been married. I'll be honest, it was really really hard. Like one of the hardest things I have done all year. (I know. We are sappy. Sorry. But he is the best husband ever.)

This was a really tough question. I grew up on comic books. My dad would let us explore the comic book store weekly. I knew Tony Stark, Bruce Wayne, Charles Xavier, and Peter Parker way before they started making movies about them.  I eventually settled on someone like Rogue or Syler (except I wouldn't kill people). Then I could borrow any abilities I needed. (That is not cheating right?) I could fly, read minds, and become incredibly strong. I also debated between someone like Emma Stone (with abilities to read minds, become indestructible, and a smoking body) or someone with eidetic (photographic) memory. Such a tough call. To make myself feel better I decided to share this picture with you. I found it yesterday and loved it. Points if you see both within 5 seconds.

Blog Post Planner

I saw a really cute idea in my reader this morning and had to share. This is perfect for those of us gearing up for summer and more blogging time. A blog post planner! Made by Erica of Confessions of a Homeschooler, it is functional and classy. I can't wait to use it myself. Let me know if you download it and what you think. Check it out on her blog here.

Happy Easter!

I am so excited it is Spring! No more snow! Beautiful flowers and blossoming trees. I hope you are enjoying this type of year as much as I am.

My favorite part of Spring? Spring Break. This last week Mom came up for her spring break. We spent time with my sister and her son shopping, getting our nails done, and eating out at our favorite restaurants. This week I am visiting her while on spring break. I hope to have some new stuff for you soon.

Until then, Happy Easter from my family to yours!
