Summer Reads

I love summer. It is the perfect time to stop and catch up on all the reading I've wanted to do the entire school year. I have a lot of books on my list this summer. Here are some of the highlights:

News!

As you may have noticed, I have been a little busy (aka MIA) these last couple of weeks. I want you to know that I have been checking in, reading other blogs, and thinking. But at the moment my mind is so scattered I don't even know where to start to write a post. It's not writer's block. It's hormones.

I am 16 weeks pregnant with my first baby and it has thrown me for a loop. I have so much to figure out. I am excited, scared, thrilled, and terrified at the notion. We find out what I am having in two and half weeks. I can't wait! I am finally starting to show and the queazy feeling is starting to disappear. Now I just need to figure out what to register for and help organize a shower before we leave Utah.

We also decide when we are moving within the next month. I have to find housing and figure out packing. I feel like I just finished packing up my school. So now I need to find more boxes and kick my butt into gear. I have so much stuff that I feel overwhelmed just thinking about it. I am trying to take it slowly, but I feel faint at the thought.

I will be in and out this summer but hope to have more updated plans for you in the near future. I need to have plans. This whole flying by the seat of your pants things scares me to high heaven.

Stop Summer Sliding Linky Party

This last week while I was sitting in the teacher work room someone brought up the topic of summer sliding. No, not sliding down the water slide at the park. (Though that is fun. I can't wait for my neighboring water park to open.)

The type of summer sliding I am talking about is when you send kids home for the summer and have to reteach/review for the first month of school when they get back. I was asked what I do to prevent summer sliding. And while I had a few ideas I knew that you all would have a lot more. And so my first ever linky party was born.

And because I am the queen of worrying I decided to bribe you to enter. I hate throwing a party and not having anyone show up. So... I am offering a prize to one random entry. On June 1, 2012 I will pick one entry to win a $25 body wrap from It Works. My friend is a distributor for them and I love their products. They tighten and tone and help you shrink body fat in a low stress natural way. Just what we all need for summer right?

Guidelines:
Include this handy dandy button somewhere in your post.
Photobucket
Link up with a specific post from your blog. (AKA a direct url. If it is not a specific post or unrelated I will delete you.)
You may link up as many times as you like as long as the post topics are different.
When you are posting the name, please post the topic of the post and then the name of your blog. (Summer reading ideas - Life with Mrs. L)
The linky party will be open until the first of August, but the giveaway winner will be notified June 1, 2012.

Little Miss Muffet/ May Currently

Last week when we focused on Mother Goose I created a simple 22 page packet based on Little Miss Muffet. This pack aligns with the kindergarten common core in three different areas. Check it out here on Teachers Pay Teachers or Teachers Notebook.

I love Farley's Parties! Join in on the fun here.

I have to admit the last one was the hardest. I think my true name should be Miss Indecisive. Or Miss Confused.

Scattegories for the letter S

My day has been full of things starting with the letter S.

(Yes this is what my brain currently feels like.)

It all started yesterday when I discovered I had Strep. Awesome! Having strep meant I got other S related things.
A substitute for the day.
Extra sleep!
My favorite soup and salad for lunch.
Time to watch some of my favorite shows.
A break from school.
And an opportunity to do some shopping online.

I just have to share about the deal I got from KPM Doodles. From now until Monday KPM Doodles is having an awesome sale in her Etsy shop. She has a code for 25% off, visit her blog here to find it. And if you buy 2 sets she sends you a third for free. All you need to do is include the name of the set you want in the comment section. I splurged and bought these three sets today and spent under $10. If you stop by and get something let her know I sent you. She has the cutest clipart sets.

I also have another couple of S words to share with you. Keep an eye out for a secret surprise this weekend.  It is going to be sensational and perfect for getting you ready for summer.
